| "Not
Fade Away: A Grateful Tribute." is a feature length documentary
film comprised mainly of interviews with "Dead-Heads"
in several of the parking lots of The Dead's 2003 Summer Tour.
The "Topic"
of this documentary is "The Grateful Dead Community."
Participating
Dead-Heads will be asked the same series of questions regarding
their first shows, favorite shows, when they have gone "On
Tour" and for how long, how they lived while on tour: the
details of what you eat, how you live, how you stay in touch with
family and friends if they are on tour for a long time..."
Interviewees
will also be asked what sort of work they do in the "real
world," what they have been doing since Jerry died, and which
bands they feel present a similar experience. Efforts are under
way to interview the Dead...
Two Web sites
are being published to support this documentary effort, to promote
it when it is complete, and to open a community portal for people
to post their own stories, link to song archives and tape traders,
etc. There will be a discussion and message board to facilitate
communications between Dead-Heads who would like to tour. The
Promotion Web site is " http://www.NotFadeAway.com "
and the community Web site is " http://www.NotFadeAway.org
."
The goal
of this documentary is to generate profits for its producers and
investors and also to dontate a generous percentage of proceeds
to The Rex Foundation, The Unbroken Chain Foundation and the Oasis
Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
During research
for this documentary, I have found another project called, "The
End of the Road," which is also comprised of interviews with
Dead Heads during the last three months of Jerry Garcia's life.
"Not Fade Away" will pick up where the other project
left off... it is intended to show that, while it is so clear
how much we all miss Jerry; life, the music and everything goes
on in harmony and that just as you have done with "Further,"
"The Other Ones," "The Dead," and all of their
many personal projects.
We Will Survive!
