A Poem

An Airport Goodbye

A moment of eternity,
eternity in a moment,
he holds her hand.

Soft kiss on the cheek.
Hearts implode
The sound of goodbye.

A pinfall echoes loudly
through an ever-emptying embrace.

Desperately searching in her windows.
As the flicker of hope subsides.

He cries testimony to the beauty of love
from within a maelstrom
of emptiness.

That moment, that kiss goodbye and hello.
The only meaning in life,
Now less than a dream.
