A Poem

Beach of broken rainbows.

Washed up souls,
Beaten up hearts,
Safety in Nowhere.

An Old man stands on a beach
of broken rainbows.

An ocean of love before him.

A lifetime of wandering behind him.

He sees a young man swimming along the shore,
Soon to be caught in the undertow
of battered dreams.

ÒNewcomer what do you know?
So eager to dive.
You'll be battered too.
Love shows no mercy,
Love is never calm,
It will beat you
tumble you
eat you
Leave you all alone.Ó

Old man walks the beach,
stepping around shattered hope,
realizing he was a fool.

Young man, you'll someday learn
it's safer to swim in a pool.
